Playing Honest With Adsense

Adsense Ideas
Google Adsense is the best contextual advertising system out there by far. No one else comes close to the accuracy of the ads, the sheer number of advertisers on the system, or the impressive customization and powerful metrics available for an Internet marketer.
That being said, Google expects Internet marketers to play by the rules. Many novice Internet marketers either get greedy and try to abuse the system, or they don’t quite understand what the rules are. Heed my words, do not make Google angry. You’ll find yourself banned with little warning and little chance to ever get your account reinstated. Let me go over some key points to consider when using Adsense to be sure you are always playing by the rules:
1) Take the time to read the Adsense Terms and Conditions as well as Adsense Program Policies. These terms are the official ones and certainly supercede anything you will find out on the Internet.
2) Never ever click on your own ads. Not even for testing, not even if you think your interested in the product you see in the ad. This is one of the worst possible things you can do. Do not think you can be sneaky and go sit at Starbucks or your mother’s house and constantly click the ads from there. They will know, and you will be banned.
3) Never encourage your visitors to click the advertisements. Whether this is for money raising, donation purposes or anything else, don’t ask them to click the ads. I would go so far as to say don’t talk about the ads at all.
4) Don’t put any images next to the ads so as to make the images look like they are part of the ad. Don’t put misleading labels on your ads such as “My Favorite Links” or anything like that.
5) Never put advertisements on pages with no content, or pages with very little quality content.
6) Adsense ads are not allowed on any pages which have improper subject matter. This includes, but is not limited to: Adult content, Violence, Beer or Hard Alcohol (wine is the exception), Perscription or illegal drugs, Weapons of any kind, replica or imitation goods, Gambling, Profanity, Hacking, Racism, or anything at all that is illegal.
7) Never place advertisements on any pages where there is copyrighted material that you do not own.
8 ) Always place ads on pages that contain useful, well written content. Never place ads on pages with scraped content or keyword stuffed pages.
9) Never place ads on pages with another companies contextual ads on them. Never place ads on pages that have very large amounts of ads and little quality content.
10) Never alter the Adsense code. This includes trying to get the ad clicks to open up new browser windows.
11) Advertisements may not be placed on pages that receive traffic from certain sources such as pay to click programs or spam emails.
12) A maximum of 3 Adsense for Content ads can be placed on any single page.
13) Don’t create more than one Adsense account. Multiple sites can be run from one Adsense account so there is no need for more.
14) Never place ads on pop-up, pop-under, maintenance pages, or into any type of software applications.
15) Do not make your site complicated and difficult to navigate so as to confuse people into clicking on the ads.
These tips should help keep you focused in the right direction. I strongly recommend everyone starting out with Adsense go to the 2 official pages that are linked at the beginning of the article. These rules are not meant to scare you, but meant to help you understand the various rules and best practices when working with Adsense. As an Internet marketer, at the end of the day, you should be creating high quality, content loaded sites instead of trying to cut corners. You will thank youself in the end.
